Bring a Retro Feel to Your iPhone Photography With Mood.camera

The new app Mood.camera turns your iPhone into a beautiful retro, analog camera.

Taking inspiration from film and even instant film cameras, you’ll be transported back in time to snap photos.

Before shooting, you can select from one of 14 different color emulations that span the gamut of possibilities for photos. The help find the perfect option, there are a number of sample photos you can try out the different emulations.

You can also adjust both the quality and the tone of the final output. All of the film grain algorithms are modeled on the physical development process that help add texture and more to the final product while keeping the detail.

In the on-screen capture window, you can tweak more details like the aspect ratio, exposure, and much more. There is also an optional grid and level indicator to better confidence in creating the perfect shot.

Another great analog touch while using the app is that there is no live preview of the selected film so you can focus on capturing the moment instead of flipping back and forth between filters. You’ll have to wait to see the final processed photo in the library.

Only for the iPhone, Mood.camera is a free download on the App Store now. After a free, seven-day trial, it’s available for a $1.99 monthly subscription or a $14.99 one-time purchase.

After downloading the app, I spent a few minutes trying out all of the settings and capturing different photos.

While there are other similar apps available, Mood.camera really nails the overall experience. It’s easy to use and the emulations are just great. It can really help bring a new way to look at iPhone photography and provide a dose of inspiration for photographers of any level.
